Key Statistics Insights:
1. Win Rate Is a "Mathematical Mirage"
Despite having an optimal reward-to-risk ratio of 2:1, the win rate of 37% is insufficient to profit from the opportunity offered by the strategy. On paper, 2:1 ratio with 37% wins would be enough to either break even or have a slight profitability. However, in real life, despite all the good-looking ratios, the channel managed to end the year with substantial losses. This example once again proves that numbers such as ratios are completely meaningless if the actual win rate cannot stay above 34%.
2. Number of Losing Months Is 3 Times Higher Than of Winning Ones
Over the course of the 12-month period, there were only 3 profitable months against 9 losing ones. Which means that on average there were 3 losing months for every winning one. Such an unbalanced ratio makes this trading pattern mentally destructive—most retail traders will abandon or blow their account before ever seeing a good month of gains.
3. Even Best Trade (+247 pips) Cannot Help in Losing Week
The best trade of the channel had profits of +247 pips—which is huge for day trading of gold. However, the profit achieved with the best trade was still less than the loss of two worst trades combined (-218 pips and -176 pips = -394 pips). This proves once again how several catastrophic losses can negate all the great performances of the channel.
4. Steady and Unnoticed Weekly Losses (–56 pips/week)
The average weekly loss was only –56 pips per week. However, in the course of 52 weeks, it adds up to –2,913 pips for the whole year. Such numbers show a clear case of death by a thousand cuts. There will never be any explosive failures in this channel; the losses will accumulate gradually and without being noticed by anyone.
The Bottom Line
On the surface, Goldxion appears to be an attractive option for those who seek trading channels: a separate Gold channel with 23,000+ subscribers, two main trading sessions (Asia and New York), and a tempting 2:1 reward-to-risk ratio. The ability to make 100 pips on winners and risk just 50 pips on losers sounds promising indeed. However, the actual figures show a totally different picture.
It turns out that the 37% win rate is a crucial factor which renders the 2:1 ratio worthless. In theory, the ratio should allow to reach breakeven at 34% win rate. However, the reality of Goldxion trading is far from being perfect: among the last 12 months, only 3 of them were positive, which means that subscribers have spent 9 months trading with losses. The final outcome of these 12 months is –2,913 pips in negative.
What makes the channel especially dangerous is the fact that the biggest losers do not happen regularly and cannot be easily spotted. Instead of a few huge losers, it can be observed that the channel loses on average –56 pips per week. This is how the so-called "death by a thousand cuts" strategy works.
Some weeks can end with a small loss (–7 pips), while other weeks bring significant profit (+185 pips). However, this pattern of profit followed by losses does not lead to a winning outcome. The largest winner was recorded at +247 pips but even this amount of profit is not enough to compensate for two biggest losers.
Our Rating: Bad
Final verdict: For the beginner, this strategy looks as a nightmare because there will be many losing periods, some winners which would seem to be lucky shots. For the experienced trader, the channel can be used as an example of why win rate is much more important than any ratio.
