Key Statistics Insights:
1. You Lose 3 out of 4 Traders, but the Average Loss Is Not Much Larger Than the Average Win
Although you lose nearly three out of every four trades, the average loss is not much larger than the average win. That is, there is no blowout, but the fact that you lose more frequently eats your account down slowly like a leak rather than one blow.
2. The Entire Year Has Resulted in a Net Loss Equivalent to 297 Average Wins
For you to recover from the total annual loss, you would need to make 297 wins in a row without one loss in between – which is mathematically improbable given your low win rate.
That clearly illustrates the fact that the reward to risk ratio is too low to balance the low strike rate.
3. Your Top Trade Was Below Half of the Worst Trade
Your best performing trade was at about +180 pips, and your worst trade was close to -290 pips. That means one day can erase gains for more than one and a half of your months' best performance. Thus, risk management plays the key role in the negative performance here.
4. With 1 to 3 Trades per Day, the Account Loses Money Every Month
Having such low trade frequency per day, one would expect that some months will be lucky and will yield a profit. However, not one month over the period of 12 full months had a profitable result.
The Bottom Line
The subscription channel My Goaldigger has been running for 3 years already and features a considerable audience of 20,000+ subscribers that gives it certain authority from the very beginning. The author is purely focused on Gold trading during the London session; offers 1 to 3 trading signals per day with 8-hour average trade time frame that suits day and swing traders equally well.
Nevertheless, the numbers tell a completely different story here. Only 28% winning ratio and the reward-to-risk ratio of 0.8 (average win +120 pips against average loss −150 pips) do not work mathematically in favor of the channel. For one year, this combination led to overall loss in excess of −34,000 pips with each of the months finishing in negative figures. The best result of the channel (+182 pips) was easily beaten by its worse result (−289 pips) indicating that even one trade can lead to wiping out the results for weeks.
Although the author is honest enough with the numbers, what is more, he even posts his losing trades for his followers' consideration (which is highly appreciated), the trading approach that is being implemented is simply unsustainable for trading business. Low strike ratio combined with the losses which are higher than gains will always result in inevitable losses and it can be proven through simple math. For a trader who risks a lot and who likes Gold setups often, the channel can serve as an educational one in terms of trade execution.
